The ThyssenKrupp Safway Minneapolis branch received a Preferred Supplier award from Basin Electric Power Cooperative in late August 2008. The branch was ranked in the top 1 percent of approximately 11,000 other suppliers.
"We were extremely grateful for the recognition bestowed upon us," said Minneapolis Branch Manager Dick Casper. "The award demonstrates progressive improvement with each and every transaction. It takes years to rise to the level that Basin Electric Co-op requires for such an honor."
Dwight Barth, Senior Buyer for Basin Electric, presented the branch with the award. Basin Electric employees in accounts payable and purchasing evaluated suppliers and found ThyssenKrupp Safway to be in the top 1 percent. In addition, ThyssenKrupp Safway was named a preferred supplier with 18 other companies.
Barth explained that business between Basin Electric and their suppliers is a two-way street. The development of cooperation between suppliers and the company is paramount to creating an atmosphere of cooperation to keep costs down and achieve success.
"The credit for this award belongs to branch personnel. We have set the bar at a level that will now be used as a base for continuous improvement with all our customers and clients," Casper said.
